Hi friends! This week I wanted to give my honest thoughts on the Pacifica Future Youth Enzymatic Resurfacing Mask. Last year, Pacifica Beauty launched a bunch of new skincare products including a few face masks. I was lucky enough to try some samplers of their new skincare after winning an amazing giveaway last year, but I didn’t get to try the Future Youth mask which was something I was super excited about. I decided to go out and purchase it at Ulta the minute it hit shelves. Upon first use, I was a bit skeptical because of the formula. It’s not your normal heavy & thick mask, it is a gel-like substance that you spread over your face and let sit for a few minutes. It never hardens or changes a different color, it just kind of absorbs into your skin. Here’s a look inside:
So I know what you are thinking… Flubber. And if you are too young to remember that movie then I’m sorry! Haha But no really. It’s a light green color and wobbles just like the little Flubber man. It is very cool to the touch and sort of tingles on the skin as you apply. You want to make sure to do a nice thin layer with this type of mask. The first time I used it, I let it sit for about 5 minutes just to see if my skin would have a bad reaction. After washing it off, my skin looked and felt very smooth! It also left an amazing glow. I did have a few breakouts the next day but I figured that it was just bringing out the impurities to fix them as it is a “resurfacing” mask meant to clean up debris and dead skin.
The second time I tried it out, I left it on a little longer. This time after I washed it off, my skin was red and burning. I think I may have just left it on too long. The next few days my skin broke out and it really bummed me out. I figured third time’s a charm so I did try it again a few weeks later and left it on for only a few minutes. Same reaction. I have decided that my skin is just way too sensitive for this mask. It’s a total bummer because it does an amazing job at cleaning out my pores! I can imagine this being really great for those that have tougher skin. Luckily, I have only used a minuscule amount of this jar so I plan on destashing this along with a few other products. It breaks my heart to say that this product didn’t work for me because of how in love with Pacifica I am! I have also tried the Pore Refine Deep Detox Mask and feel like that one works a little bit better. I do get similar reactions but try not to use it too often. I guess it is safe to say that gel masks aren’t for me! I am definitely more of a clay mask type of gal.
What about you? Have you tried any of the new Pacifica masks? Leave me a comment below!
