100% Pure Mattifying Primer Review

Hi friends! I want to let you all know my thoughts on the 100% Pure Mattifying Primer as I have been testing it out since December and feel I have a good review on it now. First off, 100% Pure offers two different kinds of primers, one for dry skin called the Luminous Primer, and one for oily skin called the Mattifying Primer. If you are not familiar with what a primer does, it is used as the last step in your morning skin care routine before you put on your makeup and is said to blur out your pores, provide an even makeup application to your skin, and increase the longevity of your makeup. I purchased the Mattifying Primer during the 100% Pure Black Friday sale as my skin tends to lean towards the oily side. All of my blogger friends rave about the Luminous Primer so I figured I would try out the Mattifying one to see how it holds up. Here’s what I think..
First off, it smells awesome! It reminds me of green grapes for some reason but it’s full of these awesome ingredients:
Aloe Barbadensis (Organic Aloe Juice) Leaf Extract*, Vegetable Glycerin, Olive Oil Squalane, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Euphorbia Cerifera Cera (Candelilla Wax) Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract, Silica, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Starch, Fucus Vesiculosus (Seaweed) Collagen, Eucalyptus Globulus (Eucalyptus) Extract, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Extract, Oregano Extract, Thyme Extract, Lonicera Caprifolium Flower and Lonicera Japonica (Honeysuckle) Flower Extract (straight from the 100% Pure website)
Second, the texture is amazing. It comes out as sort of like a light serum and spreads almost like an oil on your skin. This freaked me out at first because I was trying to COMBAT oil on my face, not ADD to it. But studies show that giving your oily skin some oil is actually helpful because if your skin is lacking in oil, it could be over-producing oil to make up for it. Funny, huh? And it’s totally true, this Mattifying Primer actually balances out my oil levels perfectly! I like that it feels light on my face especially and it reminds me a lot of the Pacifica makeup primers (but better).
Third, it works! It’s hard for me to say that my skin was absolutely flawless at the end of the day because well, it wasn’t. But a lot of factors go into that as I am someone who is on the phone and touching their face constantly throughout the day. It DOES smooth out your skin but doesn’t make pores completely unnoticeable. And it DOES allow for your makeup to apply smoothly, depending on the makeup that you are using. What I mean by that is I noticed powders sat better on the face with this primer than creams did. I tend to wear more powdery makeup anyways so it works well for me. If you are someone who prefers to use liquid/cream foundations, this may not be the best choice.
Overall, I’m a fan. Would I purchase it again? Too soon to tell really because I am always trying new things and this didn’t COMPLETELY matte me out when using all different types of products. However, I can tell that all of those wonderful ingredients are actually helping my skin because it looks so radiant ever since I started using this primer! So that is a major plus. If you have the opportunity to give it a try, I definitely suggest it. If you have tried the Mattifying Primer out before, please let me know your thoughts!
And as always, 100% Pure has some awesome deals going on! Right now until the end of February, when you spend $100 you get a free Super Fruits Eye Balm! Be sure to follow my Instagram as well where I post all of the latest 100% Pure sale info. 🙂

    1. Thank you! They are starting to become a bigger more well-known brand and I am so happy about that! Their products are phenomenal!

  1. Do you have any primer recommendations for those who prefer cream/liquid foundations? I’m not having any luck on primers for combo/oily skin. 🙁

    1. Hi! I have been using the new Paula’s Choice Primer and loving it! It works really well for my oily skin when used in combination with their Skin Balancing Serum.
