KVD Beauty Tattoo Liner Review

I’ve been on the hunt for a good black liquid liner for what feels like years now. Whenever I asked friends what they recommended, the Kat Von D Beauty Tattoo Liner was always number 1. I’ve only recently dived into more KVD Beauty products because I tend to stick with drugstore finds and price points, but this is really a reasonable price at $20. When my Wet n Wild liner finally broke, I took it as a sign to invest in something a little better. The Tattoo Liner comes in two shades: Trooper (black) and Mad Max Brown (brown). I decided to pick up Trooper for obvious reasons and I didn’t delay on testing it out as soon as I got it. Now, I’m no expert when it comes to doing liquid liner, but on the first try I really nailed it. It had to be the brush I thought. This has a SUPER fine tip and what I love most is that the bristles don’t budge or fray at ALL. It is so fine tipped that you can get the perfectly accurate thin line towards your waterline and then make it thicker throughout the rest of the lid. And girl, if you want a perfect wing, you got it! This makes it almost effortless.

One thing that really stands out to me when compared to my Wet n Wild or other brand liners is that the KVD Tattoo Liner is very opaque. Most liners I have to build layers to get a good solid black line but this is perfectly jet black with one light swoop. It doesn’t smudge or budge either. In fact, it is waterproof and transfer-resistant! So it surpasses those long days or nights out. It’s actually kind of a pain to remove at the end of the day unless I have an oil based makeup remover. With other liners I’ve used, they definitely faded through the hours but this one does not. It’s nice knowing that whatever I put on in the morning will be right in its place until the end of the day. Although a liquid, it dries really fast too. So if you make an error, you better catch it fast! I appreciate that it dries quickly though because as I finish up my makeup I don’t have to worry about it smudging. It wears perfectly on top of eye shadow too! I’m overall really thrilled with it.

If you’re in the market for a new black liquid liner, I highly recommend the KVD Beauty Tattoo Liner. I can now see why it is such a fan fave! You can see me using this liner in action in my YouTube video here. I’m a huge fan of KVD Beauty products now that Kat is transitioning the whole line to be vegan and has been so outspoken about veganism and cruelty-free beauty! I’m excited to see what she has in mind for upcoming years. You can purchase the liner on the KVD website here along with some other awesome products. I’ll be sure to write more reviews as I test out more KVD products! Let me know if you have any special requests. 🙂

  1. Okay, I’m swayed, I’m definitely going to buy this! I’ve been eyeing up the KVD liner for aaages but I’m quite stuck in my ways with the eyeliners I already know I love. But your review was so in depth, I know this sounds like the perfect eyeliner for what I need. Thanks!
