S.W. Basics of Brooklyn Haul Review

S.W. Basics of Brooklyn Haul Review

Hi friends! If you are a lover of natural skincare, then listen up! I have a massive S.W. Basics of Brooklyn Haul Review for you today. Never heard of S.W. Basics? Well, you are certainly missing out! Not only are the people behind the brand super awesome, but their products are too. Everything pictured above (with the exception of the lip balm) is made with only THREE ingredients. Better yet, the ingredients are all recognizable so no long hard to pronounce mystery ingredients here. It doesn’t get much better than that. I first stumbled upon this brand when Gilt City had a major discount deal back in September of last year. I ultimately scored all of these products for only $25 which is a huge steal. I decided to pick up one of each of their best sellers to give them all a try!

Keep reading to hear my thoughts on each:

I always love a good face exfoliant and something about this really intrigued me. Like I said before, these products are all made with three ingredients. This in particular is made with: organic oat flour, organic almond flour, & sea salt. All of these ingredients are super gentle on the skin, while providing a deep exfoliation. I use this about 1-2 times a week to really open and clean out my pores. It smells strongly of almonds, which can take some getting used to, but it really gets the job done. I sprinkle a small amount into my hand, add a drop or two of water, mix it up lightly, and then start applying to my face in circular motions. My favorite thing about this product, is that it isn’t drying whatsoever. In fact, it is pretty moisturizing because it leaves a bit of an oil feel on your skin. Definitely check it out if you are in need of a new exfoliant!

Speaking of clean feeling, the S.W. Basics Cleanser is excellent at providing your face with a fresh wake up call. I love how simple this product is! Just three ingredients: organic rosewater, organic vegetable glycerin, & organic tea tree oil. My skin absolutely loves anything rosewater so this really feels nice and cooling all while smelling amazing. In the morning, I dab a little bit of this on a cotton round and apply to my face. It’s amazing how much dirt and oil it actually picks up! It doesn’t necessarily clear my skin of my acne, but it does work well as a spot treatment at night. I would highly recommend picking this up if you are looking to simplify your skincare regimen.

This is one of those products where you either love it, or you hate it. I have heard SO many mixed reviews on this cream moisturizer but I can only tell you what my thoughts are. I am one of those that loves it. I think it smells great (very much like shea butter), is SUPER moisturizing, and actually heals dry skin very well. Again, like the other products, made with the simplest ingredients: fair trade organic shea butter, organic coconut oil, & organic olive oil. As you can assume, this is more of an oily cream compared to traditional moisturizers. I have only tried this on my body, never my face. I don’t think it would do really well as a face cream, in my opinion. I especially love using this after I shave my legs to provide them with some moisture again. During the Winter, this cleared up any dry patches immediately. It is just one of those creams that is thick, heavy duty, and all-around awesome!

DISCLAIMER: It appears that they do not have the vegan-version of these lip balms anymore. The link above will take you to their NON-VEGAN lip balms (just a heads up). Well, that’s a total bummer. I am hoping they will bring the vegan lip balms back because this really is one of the best lip balms I have ever tried. You might be able to find some of the vegan versions floating around on other sites, and if you do, definitely grab them! The citrus lip balm smells like citrus but tastes like orange-chocolate. It’s heaven. It is super moisturizing and has five amazing ingredients: cocoa butter, coconut oil, candelilla wax, & lemon & orange essential oils. This is hands down one of the more moisturizing vegan lip balms that I have ever tried. In comparison, it is much like the Crazy Rumors lip balms, which I love! Let’s hope they restock very soon! 🙂

If you like more oil-based makeup removers, then this is an excellent product for you! I am someone that loves makeup wipes personally but if I have a really stubborn mascara that will not come off, I reach for this. It does a wonderful job at breaking down makeup while still being really gentle to your skin. It smells really lovely too! A small amount goes a long way so a bottle of this will last a long time. I typically pour a little amount on a cotton round, apply to my face, rub in circles, and then follow up with a clean cotton round to pick up an excess oils. It works really well & leaves your face flawless! It is made up of the three best natural oils: organic sweet almond oil, organic olive oil, & organic jojoba oil. I can see myself using this product for many years to come.

Last, but not least, my favorite product by S.W. Basics is their Body Scrub. It is hands down the best body scrub I have ever used! Unfortunately, I used this product up SO quick that I didn’t even snap a picture with the jar full. So, just imagine that there is a full jar of scrubby goodness here, or you can click the link above and see for yourself what it actually looks like. 🙂 It is made up of three ingredients: organic sugar, organic extra-virgin coconut oil, & organic shredded coconut. Okay, so… I am the biggest coconut freak ever. I absolutely love anything and everything coconut! This smelled SO good that I wanted to eat it every time I used it!! I opted for using it as a body scrub instead butttt temptations man, temptations. It worked really well as a body scrub though! It was nice and gentle and left a very nice amount of moisture on my skin afterwards. This is perfect for pre-spray tanning, pre-shaving, pre-waxing, etc. It really does a great job of shedding any dead skin. I will definitellly be repurchasing this once I get through the other scrubs I am trying out. Definitely pick this up from S.W. Basics! It is a must-have.

Thank you so much for reading my long haul review on some S.W. Basics products. I hope that it inspires you to check out this awesome brand either online or at your local Target. I know that to some, these products may seem too simple for the price you pay, but they really are amazing. If you are craftier than I am and want to give it a go at home with purchasing the ingredients to make your own version, then go for it! S.W. Basics now has the awesome DIY Essentials collection where you can purchase the individual ingredients to each of their products! I haven’t checked it out myself yet, but it sounds pretty cool. Definitely let me know what you pick up if you do check it out!

Special thanks to Gilt City & S.W. Basics for the awesome deal last year! Check out Gilt City here for other awesome deals!

Note: All products mentioned above were purchased and reviewed honestly by me.

  1. This was a comprehensive review, which I appreciate. I tend to use vegan and vegetarian products because I’m focused on products that suit my delicate skin. I love the packaging of the products. The visual appeal alone tells me that the products are good for me and great for the environment. I hope to try them out soon.
