Hey guys! One of the hardest products for me to find when I started using vegan & cruelty-free products was a good powder foundation. I previously used Clinique’s powder foundation for years and years but I no longer want to support that brand because of their ethics. Kat Von D Beauty was recently certified as cruelty-free on my favorite bloggers site Logical Harmony (basically the cruelty-free bible), and when I saw Kat Von D also has vegan options, I had to give it a try. Currently, you can purchase Kat Von D Beauty at Sephora stores and online. I headed over to my local Sephora store so I could feel the formula in person and pick out the best shade for my skin. I really liked the texture and one of the employees helped me find the perfect shade, Light 44. Here’s what the packaging looks like:
I feel like the pricing is on point ($35) for the packaging and amount of product inside. Underneath the powder is a little applicator sponge that fits inside, making it a perfect item that can be thrown in your purse and used on the go.
Some days I apply with the sponge when I want more coverage, and others I will use a custom coverage eco tools buffing brush. Compared to my old powder foundation, this definitely has a thicker formula (not creamy though) and more coverage, but I like it! I did notice that it clings to dry spots, so you want to make sure you are moisturized before you apply. It’s not cakey to me, the powder is very soft and smooth. It applies nicely to the skin and blends out beautifully. The shade Light 44 matches my skin pretty well and isn’t orange-y to me at all, although I heard for some others it is. I have also heard that some people have had problems with this causing breakouts, but for me I can’t really tell because my skin breaks out often anyways. I can say that I haven’t noticed more breakouts than my usual skin issues since I have used it, so I guess that’s good? It does a good job at hiding things if you are someone who has skin problems like me!
Overall, I am very pleased with this powder foundation and it is something that I would definitely repurchase after it runs out. It is a great vegan & cruelty-free option for those that are looking to transition from a brand that tests. I am excited to try more vegan options from Kat Von D, what are some of your favorites?
Note: This product was purchased and reviewed honestly by me. I have fair skin with pink undertones in case anyone is trying to get a feel for their perfect shade. Post contains affiliate links.
